91st Civil Support Team
The 91st Civil Support Team (CST) is a full-time, 22-member joint Army/Air National Guard unit. The 91st CST mission is to support civil authorities at domestic incident sites during specified events in the U.S. that result, or could result, in the catastrophic loss of life or property as a result of:
- Use or threatened use of WMD.
- A terrorist attack or threatened terrorist attack.
- The intentional or unintentional release of nuclear, biological, radiological, or toxic poisonous chemical materials; and
- Natural or man-made disasters.
The 91st CST supports civil authorities through preparedness and emergency response. At the preparedness level, the 91st CST conducts inter-agency coordination, response planning and reach-back, training classes, exercises, and steady-state employment support missions. At the emergency response level, the 91st CST provides support by identifying hazards, assessing current and projected consequences, advising on response measures, and assisting with appropriate requests for additional support. The CST’s sophisticated detection, analytical, and protective equipment allows for operations to take place in hazardous environments to provide field confirmatory identification of chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) agents, and determine life safety recommendations to civil authorities.
The 91st CST continues ongoing collaboration, partnership building, training, and exercises with local, state, federal and regional partners to further enhance both Arizona and regional readiness and response capabilities.
