Internship Program

The DEMA Internship Program offers unpaid internships to current college students. The program has been developed to help students gain practical training and hands-on real world experience to satisfy educational goals while preparing for a professional career. The goal of the DEMA Intern Program is to:

  • Develop the next workforce generation

  • Create goodwill among universities and colleges

  • Offer meaningful assignments accompanied by adequate supervision

  • Integrate interns into the organizational culture

Julie L. Smee, SPHR, SHRM-SCP

Julie Smee began her assignment with the Department of Emergency and Military Affairs (DEMA) as the Chief Human Resources Officer on November 3, 2014. As Chief Human Resources Officer for DEMA, Julie directs the implementation of agency wide Human Resources strategies, policies and procedures affecting state employees.
