BRIG GEN John E. Hoefert

Land Component Commander

Birg. Gen. John Hoefert is in his 26th year of service. He was commissioned in 1989 through the Reserve Officer Training Corps Program at Central Washington University in Ellensburg, Washington. Initial duty assignments included M1A1 Tank Platoon Leader and Battalion and Brigade Assistant Operations Officer, 3rd Brigade, 8th Infantry Division (Mechanized) and 1st Armored Division, Mannheim, Germany.

 

Brig. Gen. Hoefert has participated in numerous operational and domestic response efforts from Operation Noble Eagle (Airport Security) to Operation Jump Start (Border Security). He was assigned as the Headquarters, Department of the Army Personnel Contingency Cell OIC at SITE-R and served as the National Guard Bureau J7 Executive Officer and Doctrine Developer. In 2010, he deployed as a Theater Observation Detachment Officer, Center for Army Lessons Learned, 4th Brigade, 3rdInfantry Division, Ramadi, Iraq.

 

Brig. Gen. Hoefert’s military education includes Airborne School, Armor Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, Combined Arms Services Staff School, the Command and General Staff Officers’ Course, Advanced Joint Professional Military Education, and the U.S. Army War College. His civilian education includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Flight Technology. He holds a Master of Strategic Studies degree from the U.S. Army War College.

 

Military awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Component Overseas Training Ribbon, Arizona Meritorious Service Medal, Arizona Long Service Medal, Arizona National Guard Service Ribbon, Arizona State Active Duty Ribbon, and Basic Parachutist Badge.
